Alec Bradley cigars were first introduced back in 1996 by founder Alan Rubin. Since then, Alec Bradley has grown into a major player in the cigar industry. Their crowning achievement came back in 2011 when they were awarded the prestigious “Cigar of the Year” honor by Cigar Aficionado for the Prensado Churchill. Since the award, Alec Bradley has continued to pump out top-rated cigars, one after another, including one of my favorites: Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado.

Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado is handcrafted at the Plasencia factory in Nicaragua. As the name suggests, this cigar is made from 100% Nicaraguan tobaccos from the country’s three major growing regions: Jalapa, Estelí and Condega. The cigar is finished off with a gingerbread-hued Nicaraguan Rosado Colorado wrapper.

Pre-light aromas from the Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado are very spicy with light notes of coffee and leather, while the cold draw features floral notes with hints of Raisin Bran cereal. Once the cigar is lit, things start to get interesting.

This Alec Bradley Nica Puro Rosado starts off as a leather bomb with subtle and sweet floral notes. As all the tobaccos start to warm up and meld together, I start picking up hints of light pepper, citrus, and oak. The Raisin Bran cereal notes that I was picking up on the cold draw re-enter the picture just shy of the halfway mark.

As I slowly smoke into the second half of Nica Puro Rosado, the sweetness fades nicely allowing the cedar, oak and leather notes to shine. The flavor profile really hits on all cylinders as the cigar comes down the final stretch. Earthy notes take over with a light hint of that Raisin Bran cereal again. The ending is perfectly balanced.

The construction is excellent when it comes to Nica Puro Rosado cigars. The burn was razor sharp and the draw was perfect. If you are a smoker who fears getting ash in your lap, have no fear. The ash holds on for well over an inch. If you are newer to cigars and are interested in Alec Bradley, this may be the perfect cigar for you. The blend is right down the middle when it comes to strength and is very approachable. Nica Puro Rosado is the pinnacle of the ever-growing, ultra-deep Alec Bradley portfolio. If you grab a couple to try, let us know your thoughts.
