Arturo Fuente Hemingway Staff Review
Arturo Fuente is a cigar brand synonymous with quality. Rooted in a rich, storied history dating back to the late 1800s in Cuba, the Fuente family had to overcome great adversity on their journey to becoming one of the biggest, most respected premium cigar manufacturers in the world. It was not until the 1980s that Carlito Fuente introduced cigar lovers to one of the preeminent jewels of the cigar world, the Arturo Fuente Hemingway.
The first thing that stands out about Arturo Fuente Hemingway cigars are the masterful shapes. Each size is rolled in a unique Figurado format which takes extra skill and training for the cigar rollers to craft. Aged Dominican tobaccos are blended to perfection and accompanied by a rich, toothy Cameroon wrapper.
Today, I’ve decided to kick back with one of my all-time favorites, the legendary Hemingway Classic.
The appearance is stunning. Long, elegant and tapered on both ends. Pre-light notes of spice and cedar really stand out, while the cold draw reveals softer earth and raisin notes. The first few puffs are full of black pepper and cinnamon, but as the cigar slowly heats up, sweet cedary notes start poking through. Once I smoke through the small nipple on the foot, the flavor profile really explodes. Coffee undertones paired with strong earth notes take center stage as the spice starts to mellow.
The middle portion of the cigar is quite fantastic. The coffee notes dissipate, allowing rich flavors of oak and spice to shine through. As I progress further, the spiciness once again fades, allowing an abundance of earthy tones to mingle on my palate.
The final third offers up a smorgasbord of flavors. I finally pick back up the raison note which was present on the cold draw, as well as some leathery and mossy nuances. Throughout the last couple inches, there is zero pepper. The profile is perfectly balanced between earthy and sweet. I could not ask for a better finish.
In summary, Arturo Fuente Hemingway is a fan-favorite among seasoned cigar lovers and for good reason. Not only are they amazing cigars for the money, but this is also one of the most nostalgic and romantic brands in all of cigardom. With the strength clocking in at 6 out of 10, both the novice and seasoned aficionado can indulge without question. If you are yet to experience an Arturo Fuente Hemingway, do yourself a favor and smoke a small piece of cigar history. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
